2008 Preach the Gospel

Pastor Patrick had met many people on his initial trip to the U.S. in 2007 who wanted to donate child sponsorships for children to go to school in Rwanda, so the U.S. office began to track the income, partnering with a non-profit organization by the name of Flintnet. The U.S. office sent receipts out monthly along with a monthly newsletter to inform the donors about the ongoing ministry in Rwanda. Letters and at times birthday gifts were sent by child sponsors to their sponsored children. A new name was adopted for the U.S. ministry because it had formerly been referred to as Africa Harvest Mission so the word International was added to the end of it to distinguish the U.S. ministry from the ministry in Rwanda which is Africa Harvest Mission.

Pastor Patrick came back to the U.S. in April and conducted a youth crusade for Boise church, Ustick Baptist.

On May 20th, the first meeting of the incorporators was held for Africa Harvest Mission International. Tom Porter was acting president and Karen Thiel was acting secretary. The purpose for the meeting was to read the certificate of incorporation of this organization as had been filed in the office of the Secretary of State. The nominations were then read, voted on and unanimously elected for the following offices.

1. For President: Rev. Patrick Joshua Twagirayesu
2. For Administrator: Gayle Martinez
3. For Secretary: Karen Thiel
4. For Treasurer: Sue McDonald

The nominations for the Board of Directors were then read, voted on and unanimously elected for the following offices.

2. Rev. Patrick Joshua Twagirayesu

The proposed set of Bylaws was adopted. The Treasurer was authorized and directed to open a new bank account and to deposit therein all the funds of the organization, signed by the President and countersigned by the Treasurer and/or by the Administrator. It was determined that the Treasurer shall, under the supervision of the President, on a monthly basis, wire transfer all of the funds donated for AHMI Rwanda Projects to AHMI in Rwanda unless otherwise changed by the Board. It was determined to hold the next annual meeting of the Board of Directors on September 20, 2009. Then the meeting was adjourned.
Pastor Patrick began work on receiving 501c3 non-profit status and met with Boise attorney Christian Brown who volunteered his services on two separate occasions to review paperwork. Since the IRS allows organizations to begin receiving tax deductible donations up to three months in advance of when they receive their non-profit status, we began collecting donations in our own name in November so we changed our collection process reflecting a wire transfer directly from AHMI rather than partnering with Flintnet.
